The 3 Things I would do if I was launching a Jewellery Brand in 2025

The 3 things I would do if I was launching a jewellery brand in 2025…

1. Research the competition and make sure I was doing something different

There can be jewellers doing similar things to do, so how are you different? Having a unique perspective, presenting your work differently, and standing for something really help. A micro example - Jessica McCormack launched by using flawed diamonds that no one wanted, she presented unusual antique inspired settings in a fresh modern way, and she represented the modern London girl who didn’t want to shop on Bond St or wear her granny’s diamonds. THIS = NEW.

2. Create a signature style

Could someone recognise your work in a line-up without knowing it’s by you? THAT’S where you need to get to. It takes time to develop a signature style, but it’s really useful to start with this in mind. Think details, think silhouette, think materials. And then think branding. This is non-negotiable if you want to grow.

3. Design a customisable piece

Customisation is EVERYTHING right now. Whether it’s adding ultra personalisation like Cece Jewellery, creating a modern locket pendant to keep your baby’s hair or a loved one’s photo, or having a signature piece that includes free engraving - customisation adds an extra incentive to buy. And that’s what you need in this saturated market - an extra incentive to buy.

Remember, the need to stand out in this market is crucial. Make sure your work is unique, distinctive and you’re targeting a specific customer base.
