The GoldDust Collective: 6 Months in…
As we enter the 6th month of the GoldDust Collective, my membership for ambitious, independent jewellery designers and brands, here are some of the essential jewellery business topics we’ve covered so far, with many exciting experts to come!
The GoldDust Collective was launched six months ago this month, and so far we’ve had an incredible host of expert guest speakers sharing their essential industry knowledge with all the independent jeweller members.
We’ve covered how to master branding as an independent creative business, photography for jewellery designers, taking your own jewellery shots as well as setting up a photoshoot, pricing for jewellery designers, selling with a multi-brand retailer, working with a jewellery manufacture in Thailand and the far-east vs using a UK based jewellery production workshop, and much, much more!
I also hosted an in-person 1:1 drop-in day in London, where jewellers got the chance to meet with me for a quick business overview, where they could ask any burning questions, get feedback on ideas or collections, and generally pick my brain on anything in their jewellery business that they’re struggling with. We came up with new piece ideas, rebranding thoughts, and business strategies, as well as personal introductions to my contacts: photographers, copywriters and web developers.
These 1:1 sessions were so useful, with the ability to quickly move on to different topics, and connect in person with some of my London-based members, that I decided to include remote sessions are part of the Membership offering too! From now on there will be an ONLINE drop-in session 4 times a year for all GoldDust members to join for some personalised jewellery business advice from me.
There are also more brilliant talks planned this year - from website optimisation and ‘Spring Cleaning’, to speaking to a packaging expert who explain the importance - and cost implications - of all the tiny details in your unboxing experience, as well as talking us through the benefits of working with China for packaging vs the UK, and how to make your packaging as ethical and sustainable as possible.
I want to thank all my brilliant members for all their wonderful feedback, support and energy this past 6 months; developing this Membership programme has been one of the highlights of my jewellery industry career so far, and I can’t wait to grow it further and add even more resources for you all.
I look forward to meeting more members in 2024. Stay tuned this year for the GoldDust Podcast!
